Unless you’ve had your head buried in the sand for the past three weeks (or you made a New Year’s resolution to stay off social-media), you’ve probably heard about ‘something blue’. The collaboration between two Kiwi entrepreneurs – Joyable’s Rochelle Sheldon and She Said Yes‘s Megan Hutchison (me!), something blue is New Zealand’s first bridal subscription box.
When Rochelle popped over for coffee in early December, the last thing on our minds was that we’d soon be popping the Champagne and celebrating a brand new business, but once we’d had this little brainwave, we simply had to pursue it. We went live 35 days later, announcing our lovechild and selling our first presale boxes.
We both know the pressures and pain-points that come with wedding planning, so we wanted to create a beautiful, especially curated gift box for brides, affordable enough to justify a monthly subscription, but special enough to give as a gift too.
Having both been married ourselves in the last few years, and working with brides in our respective businesses, we are so confident that our subscribers will love our boxes that we’re keeping them a surprise until they’re sent out. All we can tell you is that there’s at least $200 value in the February something blue box, and they’re selling fast.
